Cliffside park fire department

Established in 1895, The Cliffside Park Volunteer Fire Department is made up of three companies consisting of 60 men and women on the active roster. Our department is unique because all three companies are stationed together in one complex, which allows our Department to be 100% cross-trained for both Truck and Engine work.

The Fire Department undertakes a vast amount of services for the Borough of Cliffside Park; they are the sole authority for fire suppression and extinguishing of fires. In addition they provide all extrication services for motor vehicle accidents. Special services include high angle rescue/ repelling team, pumping of flooded basements; and responding to all calls for carbon monoxide and gas leaks. The borough of Cliffside Park is one square mile with a population of 34,000 occupants - we are the most densely populated municipality in Northern New Jersey.

Cliffside Park is located 2 miles south of The George Washington Bridge and 4 miles north of the Lincoln Tunnel, which both cause major bus and rush hour traffic through our borough. Additionally, the New York waterway ferry service is less than 2 miles away, which increases our daily traffic and yearly population growth.

Our borough has 7 high-rise residential buildings and 14 mid-rise residential buildings. In these buildings, we protect numerous employees of diplomatic status of all nations and high-ranking business executives. Furthermore, we operate within the East Bergen County Mutual Aid and often are requested to respond to surrounding boroughs to assist them with emergencies.
